Fight poverty with Fundacion Envia in the beautiful colonial city of Oaxaca!
En Via is a non-profit microfinance organization working to fight poverty by providing interest-free microloans, business classes and English classes to people living around Oaxaca. All of the work we do is funded by the tours we run to visit the women in our lending program. The tours allow travelers to see firsthand the impact our interest-free microloans and educational classes are having on the women, their families, and their communities.
Right now we offer free English classes in the mornings and afternoons twice a week in Teotitlan del Valle, a small pueblo about 30 minutes outside of Oaxaca. We offer classes to adults and children of various levels. We always need new volunteers to help teach English classes, but we strongly prefer that volunteers can commit to teaching two classes per week for AT LEAST one month. As of now, volunteers have to pay for their own transportation to and from Teotitlan (about $25~30 MXP roundtrip, or $2.15~2.60 USD).
