Financial Assistance/Educational Partnership needed in an English School in Brazil

Hello there!

I come from Birmingham, England, and I have been living in Brazil for more than 20 years. My father is also from Birmingham, and he has been living here since 1989. We are both English teachers, as well as my Brazilian mother, sister and friend (who works with me in Minas Gerais).

We have opened an English School (Britannia Academy) in a semi-urban city called Alterosa, in MG, a couple of months ago. When we came here - a little more than a year ago - there were no English Schools in the area. After a year unemployed, I decided to start teaching English to the residents of Alterosa. Most of them work in the rural part of the city, sowing coffee, corn and beans. Many are losing their jobs because the farmers are buying machines - which cost less in the long-term.

Since the population of the city had almost no opportunities to study or work, we were certain that learning English would help them find better opportunities. So we opened a very small school, consisting of a single room and a toilet. We are interested in expanding it and providing more opportunities for the people of Alterosa.

We managed to offer low-prices, since most of the residents are poor.

We also make our own activities. Until now, we have prepared four units of "Practising" and three of "Questionnaire".

Educational Partnerships and Financial Assistance are more than welcome.
