By:Jimmy Sturo

Tennessee boasts moderate weather, musical heritage, and has a variety of tourist attractions that have cultural and artistic value. Tennessee derived its name from a Yuchi Indian word "Tana-see," which meant "The Meeting Place." The Smoky Mountains continue to hold the fascination of many tourists, while many tourists visit Tennessee to appease their musical interests.

Tennessee offers a wide range of recreational activities for sport and adventure enthusiasts. These activities range from walking and cycling to horseback riding and hunting. Tourists can enjoy a myriad of water sport activities on some of the most exquisite locales in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is situated in Nashville, which is also a hub for country music. This sports hall offers insight and information about the evolution of Tennessian sports from the early 1800s till date. It offers a complete tourist experience and provides some of the best urban facilities. The Grand Ole Opry, and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, is worth paying a visit. The Knoxville Museum of Art displays exceptional work of art of some of the modern artists. Various art camps are conducted in the museum in summertime for the children. Some of the spectacular tourist spots in Knoxville include Knoxville World's Fair Park, and Knoxville zoo.

Memphis is one of the hottest tourist destinations in Tennessee and has a heavy influx of tourists. The museums in Memphis such as Children's Museum of Memphis, The Rock & Soul Museum, Memphis Blues and Music Museum, and Rock n Soul Museum are some of the world famous museums. Some of the downtown Memphis attractions include The Peabody, the Cook Convention Center, Mud Island, Peabody Place, Autozone Park, the Pyramid, and the Sun Studios. There are a lot of things tourists and sports enthusiasts can do in Gatlinburg. Most of them take up the Motor Nature Trail, which is almost a 10-mile loop. It offers a picturesque view of the mountains and streams. The Gatlinburg Sky Lift offers the best view of the mountains and Gatlinburg. Mynatt Park is a great picnic spot in Gatlinburg.

It is very easy to find appropriate hotels and cabin rentals in Tennessee. Tourists can book them in advance through the Internet to avail of seasonal discounts.
