The Berlin Metropolitan School (BMS) is an international all-day school in the Hackescher Markt area of Berlin’s Mitte district. Combined under one roof are a Preschool, Primary School and Secondary School, which culminates in the internationally recognized IGCSE and IB diplomas.

Currently, 460 children ranging in age from preschool to Grade 7 are enrolled, spending their days tackling the challenges presented by an ambitious school program, at the core of which is a qualitative, high-caliber, international curriculum. Teaching is conducted in English, adhering to the standards of the IBO and Cambridge University. Hand-in-hand with a focus on academic quality is the school’s foremost priority: instilling a love for learning.

“If we succeed in maintaining a joy for discovery, research, and integration of knowledge throughout a child’s school career, then we’ve laid the best groundwork for our students to remain inquisitive, curious, critical, and creative, even after finishing school, and for them to discover the enjoyment of lifelong learning,” say the BMS leadership team.
The education students receive at the Berlin Metropolitan School will be their springboard into a globalized world, one in which fast-paced changes present unforeseeable challenges. Thus are problem-solving abilities, language skills, intercultural understanding, and self-discovery, from social skills to the development of communication and performance capabilities, a priority in the school’s program. In order to make this successful, the school has placed particular emphasis on recruiting the best teachers from all corners of the world.

The same academic standards and values built into the curriculum are applied to the school’s comprehensive afternoon program. As an all-day school, the Berlin Metropolitan School offers a diverse daily program from 7:30 until 18:00 that instills academic skills and nurtures a child’s emotional, social, and physical abilities. Through this approach, each student becomes engaged with their own traits and personal qualities, discovers their hidden talents, and receives support and encouragement for their interests. In this warm, friendly learning atmosphere, one encounters day after day students who have surpassed themselves, that find delight in learning, and that have become curious and inspiring young minds.
