English schools in China
The Hangzhou Babel Language Center was founded in 2002 and approved by the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Education as a special foreign language training organization. At its founding Babel was the only language training school in Hangzhou providing after-hours Chinese language courses. It is run as a subsidiary of the Qiushi Educational Service Company of Zhejiang University Co. Ltd.
The center is based at the Zhejiang University National Science and Technology Park in an area at the forefront of modern Chinese academia. Because of Qiushi’s background in higher education, the Babel Language Center has particular strengths in teaching resources and advanced language study. Babel provides a variety of part-time and full-time training programs in Mandarin, English and other languages and has a team of researchers in language education that support teachers through curriculum design, provision of teaching materials, student evaluation instruction, and other services aimed at promoting student interest and constantly improving the overall level of teaching. Foreign students from over 15 countries have enrolled in various Qiushi Chinese language programs. Babel also provides the Chinese branches of major international companies, including Nokia, with corporate Chinese language courses. The school’s curriculum emphasizes interactive classes and organizes language corners as well as other rich campus activities.
