Travel Tips
If you fly much, you may have had to cross your fingers and hope that your luggage makes it to your final destination along with you. If you have ever worried about losing your luggage while flying, follow these tips on your next trip.
Label the outside of each piece of your luggage. Include your name and a telephone number on the label. Use a secure luggage tag that someone can't remove easily. Write your information on the label clearly and in dark ink in case someone needs to contact you.
Place a label on the inside of your luggage. If by chance someone removes the outside label from your luggage, a second label inside your bag will allow airport personnel to identify it. Include your name, a phone number, your departing city, your destination, your airline name and the flight number. All of this information can help airline personnel get your luggage back to you if it's lost for a short time.
Check the luggage tag put on your bag by the airline employee. Make sure that it contains your correct name, your flight number and destination. If this label is not correct, your luggage can end up at the wrong destination. Make sure that you receive the corresponding baggage claim tickets so you can claim your bags at your destination.
Pick up the correct luggage at the baggage claim. Check your baggage claim ticket against the luggage tag on your bag. Make sure that the bag has your name on it so you don't take a similar bag belonging to someone else.
