By:Travel Expert

Traveling with pets might seem easy, but in fact it’s almost like traveling with kids. You have to take care of so many things in order to ensure the safety of your best friend. The following tips are meant to ease as much as possible your journey. Have a better look and decide to take them into account on your next adventure with your furry friend.

o Transportation

Whenever you’re traveling by train, car or airplane, it’s always advisable to think about what’s best for your pet as well. Usually, the riskiest way of traveling is by airplane because certain pets are not comfortable at high altitudes; however, if he stays busy, plays or sleeps well, you won’t have anything to worry about.

o First aid kit for pets

Generally speaking, traveling implies certain threats, especially if your pet is lively and dynamic. You should have with you some bandages, antidiarrheal medication and also some antiseptic cream. Occasionally, certain destinations could make your pet sick and for this matter you ought to look after him.

o Identification tag

Usually, pets are so frisky. They can never stay in one place without moving, turning or running. And because you don’t want to risk losing your best friend, an identification tag is highly essential. These days, pet owners opt for microchip tags that will allow them to find their pets using a GPS system.

o Food

You should always know what kind of food to give to your pet whenever you’re planning a trip. Try to avoid as much as possible moist foods, and stick to the dry ones. In addition, exercise is also imperative after a meal. If you’re traveling by car, periodic stops are extremely recommended.

o Keep your pet entertained

Everybody hates when dogs are constantly barking or when cats are moving around the car nonstop. If you want to have some peace, just remember to put in your luggage his favorite toys that will keep him busy and entertained.

o Cages, carriers and leashes

If your pet is a cat, usually people take with them a small cage, or a cat carrier. Thus, you’ll make sure that your best friend is safe and sound, since cats cannot be kept in a leash. When it comes to dogs, keeping them safe is a bit different. Dogs listen to their owners especially if you have a trained one and you won’t have to keep him restrained all the time.

o Traveling supplies

A pet owner must always take into consideration some basic supplies before the beginning of a trip. Blankets to keep your pet warm are elementary, as well as plastic bags because there are countries where you have to clean after your pet.

o Periodic health checks

Whenever your pet has been left unattended for at least half an hour, a health check is advised. Just make sure to test out his eyes, nose and ears and search for discrepancies. Afterwards, rubdown his abdomen to exclude food poisoning and occasionally you can even take him to the veterinary.
