Travel Tips
It is easy to eat healthy meals when you are at home, but while traveling it can be pretty hard. Most people will just eat anything to everything (food) that comes in front of their eyes when they are hungry while traveling. Getaways like 'Going on a cruise' can be especially damaging if you have a tendency to gain weight or if you are already in the middle of a weight loss program. This article gives you some very useful tips to avoid gaining extra pounds when you are on the go.
1. Fruits and Salads:
Regardless of your travel destination, most restaurants keep Fruit plates or Salads. At least starting your meal with these items will help you to limit the intake of other unhealthy and fattening food. Obviously if you are on a cruise ship, it will be stupidity to not eat all the good food they offer, but combining Salads and Fruits with the regular food will prevent you from eating too much 'Main Course'.
2. Quantity does matter:
It seems as if we "live to eat" and not "live to eat". Restaurants super-size our meals and we think that it is normal to eat that much food.. By eating slowly, listen to your belly and stop when your tummy indicates that its full.
3. Watch out on those Sodas:
Soda's are the most widely consumed drink when you are traveling. They are loaded with sugar and can quickly make you gain weight if you do not watch out. Go for 0 calorie (sugar free) sodas if you really have to, otherwise stick to the plain old water.
4. Take rest:
Taking rest even then you travel is equally important, by giving adequate rest to your body will ensure that you are relaxed and your body will not send wrong signals that it needs food all the time.
5. Walk whenever you can:
If you have to catch a train which is just a couple of blocks away, well then walk and do not depend for the local bus/transit to arrive and take you to the train station which is very much walkable. These small exercises will help you remain fit and healthy during your trip.
Travel and Weight gain often go hand in hand, but by altering your habits little bit can make a huge difference. I am a regular contributor at http://www.travelname.com/Main_Page and on this website. I am also a very health cautious person and 'weight loss' is a topic which I also love to write about.
