In response to don't start a sentence with 'AND' (q)
It is not nice to start "flaming" in this situation. It is better to just reason this and come to an answer that everyone can agree on. Consider this: Using the rules of rhetoric, you can start a sentence with "And" because we mark independent clauses with coordinating conjunctions or "fanboys" as some like to call them (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So). So if you are starting an independent clause, which has a subject and a verb, then you can surely start it with an "And". It does not contradict the rules of parallelism, the rhetorical rule for having both sides of the FANBOY be of equal "weight" or importance.
