Using Dialect for listening comprehension training

Hi, language teachers: I find teaching using dialect for listening comprehension training is very practical and useful for most of my Business students. I have recorded quite a few radio programs from CBC Overnight programs from radio stations all over the world. We found them very good in enriching students knowledge and in telling the different pronunciations by people from other parts of the globe. Actually, not all the people are speaking standard British or American way. Even people from those countries do not pronounce the same. So, please let your students experience the differences. You'll find it beneficial in the future. Alex Wu

Dialect

Nobody has a dialect or accent until they go someplace else.

I take it from your ethnocentric statment that you don't like people who speak differently than you do.

I wold think that most people who have been teaching for a while would leave their ethnocentric chip where it belongs.... in the rubbish bin. I could be mistaken. It isn't the first time and won't be the last.
