Teaching in Xingtai
By:Karen and Craig <ckwhitty@mweb.co.za>
In Response To: Living in Xingtai, China (Article) (Adam Hopes (English teacher))

Hi Adam

Thanks for your lovely email, which we read as part of our planning to go to China to teach and found very encouraging. We have both been offered a position at the Hebei Handan Lilac Education Group, which we are told is in Xingtai.
We are taking our two young children with us and wanted to know what Xingtai is like in terms of parks and things to do for kids who will be 1 and 3 when we go.
We have been told by many people that the Chinese love children, and that small towns like Xingtai are particularly good for kids, but just wondered if you could cast your mind back a little and help us out with a few questions:
- do you have to pay to enter the parks?
- what are the transport options, besides taxi?
- have you heard anything about the school and if so, what?
- does it get very cold in winter?

Thanks so much,
Karen and Craig

(if you send us your postal address, we will be sure to drop you a postcard!)
