As a teacher, there are so many opportunities for us to travel, work, change locations, take time off, and experience new endeavours. A great opportunity for all teachers is to participate in a teacher exchange. Each school board is slightly different; but many offer the opportunity to travel to various locations around the world, swap houses with a teacher in a different country and still bring in the same paycheque that you made at your school.
Why Don't All Teacher's Do it?
As great as participating in a teacher exchange sounds, most teachers don't do it. Why? Well, because most people don't take the necessary steps if it means taking them outside their comfort zone. Some couldn't be bothered with filling out the application, and others are tied down with family. It does get slightly more tricky with moving family; but, it is definitely doable.

If you are eventually contemplating a move, a teacher exchange provides a great way to travel so you can spend enough time in another country to make a solid decision about whether you would really like to move there.
Many Teachers Make Money Outside of Teaching
If you are travelling abroad, you'll have a much better experience if you don't have to worry about how much money you're spending. Especially if you want to take trips while you're gone. Start to contemplate other avenues to build a second stream of income for yourself that will offer you the money to do the travelling you want.
A great Avenue for Teachers at Home or on a Teacher Exchange
Working on a home-based business on the side of teaching is a great way to make additional income and to have tax-write offs as a teacher while you're in your home country. The best part of this is you can continue this business while you are on your teacher exchange. All you need is an Internet connection.

So the First Steps...
Step 1 - Contact your teaching board and ask about the requirements of a teacher exchange, get the papers and apply! If you don't get it this year, try again next year.
Step 2 - Do some research into other business opportunities, there are so many great ones out there so there is absolutely no reason for us to think that we are only teachers, and that's all we can do.
Step 3 - Get trained and take action! Build an additional income that will afford you the ability to take the trips you want.
Step 4 - Bon Voyage! Enjoy your travels, and make sure you have access to an Internet connection so you can continue to make money as you sit on the beach.
