Behavior issues in the classroom happen almost everyday. This is to be expected by teachers since students obviously can develop a sense of immunity towards you in due time. And it is common nature for them to be somehow swayed in the path of noisiness and stubbornness in the long run.
As a teacher our role is indeed big. We are not only trying to teach them lessons they had enrolled but also life in general. More than teaching, we are there to guide them and discipline them so that the class atmosphere will not be interrupted and destroyed. Thus, as a first move to slowly solve this common teacher concern, it is a must to identify the different types of behaviors issues in the classroom. This in turn will set the disparity of what is considered disrupting and which ones are not.
Issue #1: Noisy students. Noise is something that must be modulated especially in a classroom setting. A teacher is oftentimes acting like a librarian who would tap the desk or even blow whistles to particular students, but not in its literal sense. During discussion, as much as possible there must be silence so the necessary information can be relayed effectively to the students. Sometimes when students sit in groups especially with their friends they oftentimes discuss things to the point that their voices are loud tampering the class atmosphere. Noisy students are by far the top behavior issue in a regular classroom setting.
Issue #2: Stubborn students. There are many ways to tag if a student is stubborn or not. One for instance is a student who is not following your instruction. Second they oftentimes do the things that can totally trigger your patience. Finally there are students who would do anything just to disrupt the class flow. We as teachers indeed care for our students as if they are our children. And as much as possible we want to consolidate cooperation with the things we want them to do especially if these are necessary towards their intellectual growth. If you happen to pinpoint students who would match the stated facts, proper discipline must be done immediately.
Issue #3: Inattentive students. These types of students are the ones who are not noisy. True, they may be quite but they tend to space out every so often. When you call their attention and let them discuss the lesson at hand, they have no answers and clearly not an idea digested at all. They are perhaps the challenging ones since they are often left out during discussions. As a teacher, we must uplift the whole students at the same time. We must make sure that everyone got the lesson and somehow had a clear view of the picture. We must be duly aware of inattentive students in the first place.
Teaching is truly serious business. As a teacher you simply don't step up and lecture the topics everyday. Proper management must be there and present. Issues and concerns must be immediately addressed. And much more behavior issues in the classroom must be acted upon in the soonest possible time.
