Re: Setting up a private school in the Philippines
By:Trevor Gordon <Show E-Mail>

I am a teacher here in The Philippines. I am from England and i have been living and teaching here for 10 years.

The things you should be aware of are: the lengthy process of the application. The number of permits you have to get, plus the obvious backhanders everyone will want to 'help' you.

You also have to set up a corporation of which you will have a 40% share and the 60% will have to belong to a Filipino or Filipinos.

Rental of leasing of premises is an area to be very careful in, as well employment contracts etc...,

There is also the fact that there are several thousand schools dotted all over the country, mainly in Manila and Cebu.

It is a great idea in theory but tread carefully.
