English schools in Japan
The 21st Century is a time of great change and tremendous opportunity. In response to a rapidly diversifying local community, the Osaka YMCA opened the city's first and only International School in September, 2001. We offer residents of Osaka and its environs a globally-oriented educational alternative to nationally run public schools.
The school is housed in the ultra-modern ORC 200 Building of the YMCA's Bentencho campus, adjacent to historic Osaka bay. Small classes, intimate classroom settings and easy access to counseling centers and recreational facilities promote the development of interpersonal skills among students -- and between students and adults. The highly personalized environment integrates campus-life with the world beyond the classroom. Students learn problem-solving skills in a hands-on fashion, in an environment that is safe and productive.
The YMCA campus combines state-of-the-art classroom facilities, library collections and computer laboratories with a first-rate Fitness Center, including a heated swimming pool, basketball and aerobics courts, the latest in exercise apparatus, massage and physical therapy equipment; Jacuzzis, saunas, Japanese-style hot-springs and more. Through the daily use of the Center, students will develop both fine and gross motor skills. The value of a healthy, well-tended physique is a component of their overall learning experience.
