That's true, but there's a lot of people that just don't understand the realities of it. Especially young naive people that are silly and easily led into believing that they can save the world by teaching English.
I think we could eventually need to move away from language teachers towards consultants or advisors that a student can meet on a weekly basis. These people would most likely not be native speakers but those who have previously studied languages successfully.
Mind you in mainland China, local staff are often so incompetent and unprofessional that there's still a need for foreigners, even the shitty ones.
