Two young graduates of Oxford University, Lorna Southwell and Osyth Potts founded St. George's School in 1927. In their undergraduate days at St. Hugh's College, Oxford, after the horrors of the First World War, they conceived the idea of founding a school in which children of all nationalities could share their learning and the difficulties of growing up. They hoped that, with this experience behind them, they would, as adults, understand each other better and thus contribute to the promotion of peace in the world.
