The American Cultural Association of Torino, now called The International School of Turin (ACAT-IST), is a private, college-preparatory school open to students from all over the world (representing more than 31 different nationalities). ACAT-IST offers a complete academic program in English from Early Childhood to Twelfth Grade. Italian is offered from First Grade through Twelfth Grade. The school's curriculum is international and leads to the completion of both the American college preparatory diploma and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The IB Diploma is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education and is legally equivalent to the Italian Maturità.
Founded in Turin in 1963 as the American International School of Turin, the school was re-founded in 1974 as The American Cultural Association of Turin (ACAT). It is registered in Italy and has been recognized by the Regione Piemonte. Members of the association are parents of students. ACAT-IST is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS).
