This role involved writing and maintaining test scripts that are written in TCL. These test scripts are used to run regressions on various server side software images on various routers in a lab. These lab routers are configured to emulate real world networks. Cross-platform development was a major part of this position as Unix/Linux and Windows were used extensively. Bash shell scripting was used to run the regressions and to make/build the various components of the programs. Extracting and sending data to the various Cisco routers in the lab was an integral part of the job and as such firmware programming techniques were used as well as pure software techniques. In depth analysis of IP packet data structures and byte code was also a significant part of the role. An international defect tracking system was used within the company on a daily basis and code reviews and meetings were also carried out frequently. This role involved designing, writing and testing various elements of software that were used to measure the frequency of crystal oscillators and control the various test instruments associated with them. The software was written in C/C++ and used the LabWindows/CVI development platform that was configured to interact with various National Instrument (NI) test equipment via a customized RS232 transfer protocol. The crystal oscillators to be tested were to be set to military specifications and therefore were placed in a test oven and heated to various different temperatures and the resultant frequencies of their oscillation were logged via an NI frequency tester and a graph plotted via my software on the LabWindows/CVI platform. Hello, my name is Grant Oddoye, and I was born in 1982A.D. I have an Engineering Degree. I have worked as an Engineer and Teacher, and also in some other jobs. In the classroom I can feel what the students require/need to understand what I am saying to them, and the way I have to present the material to them so that it can be understood clearly, and learnt as easily as possible. I can also prepare educational content to a good/great level by hand or using a computer or phone. I enjoy doing these activities around the World with friends and colleagues from different backgrounds and jobs.
Message to the Youth?: I would tell them to connect their dreams to industry with directly relevant study and social networks. I would say learn survival skills like growing food, cooking, construction and engineering. Learn many languages connected to industries and cultures that inspire and interest you. I would encourage them to look beyond their current lives to the future of their country, people and the World. Try and organize as many ideas, work procedures and life skills as possible, so you remember them.
Travel Preferences?: I would really like to travel to all places in Asia, and also Australia, the USA, Canada and New Zealand. I like vast, expansive landscapes and cultures, with Space Exploration included. I would like to travel far distances in cars and buses, and learn the local lifestyles and techniques. I would like to go long distance walking and grow food. I would enjoy sustainable and recyclable item manufacture in new regions. Pollution reduction would also be a high priority.
Great Teaching Abilities/Skills?: Great listening and perceptive skills are very important qualities in teaching. As are wide and deep knowledge base structures. It is great to facilitate students' learning of directly industry relevant and Real World applicable skills that can be used very soon after studying them, and this can engage their positive attributes within local and Worldwide communities. From my experiences of teaching English and Science Subjects such as Physics I have learnt many great ways to link academia to everyday living and the Real World.
