Step 1: Be in tune with your feelings.

In the office, tempers can’t help but flare, and opinions can’t help but clash. Sometimes, you end up doing something you regret because your emotions are so high-strung.

To avoid such situations, you should try understanding your feelings first. What made you angry like that? Or why do you feel insulted by what was said?

Being in tune with your feelings and knowing where they are coming from helps you become more at ease with the situation.

Step 2: Keep communication lines open.

Shutting yourself out is not the answer. When you encounter conflict in the office, it is best to talk about it in a civilized manner. Try not to make the conflict larger than it really is.

Step 3: Keep it in the family.

That will only drag everything on longer than it should be. It might also aggravate the bitter feelings between you and that other person. Don’t keep telling other people about it either.

While you might want to share your frustrations with a confidante, perhaps you could find someone who is outside your work circle.
