English schools in Asia
Ashgabat International School , a private non-profit institution that opened in September of 1994, offers high quality education in the English language for elementary students from three years through thirteen years of age. The facility, which was completed in July 1998, is situated on 5 hectares of land behind the American housing complex. Located in the foothills, the building overlooks the city and the Turkmenbashi museum. The new facility includes a state-of-the-art cooling/heating system, library, 8 classrooms, computers and other resources.
The school's educational philosophy, which includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for mastery. We believe in success for all students. We seek to create a positive learning environment since we believe a child learns more if he enjoys his learning experience.
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE of the school is to meet the needs of the children in Ashgabat who require this type of education with a view to continuing their education in their home countries with a minimum of adjustment problems. This program is also offered to Turkmenistani citizens who seek this education with a view to higher studies outside of Turkmenistan. In addition to its scholastic goals, the school endeavors to provide its students with knowledge of Turkmenistan.
THE CURRICULUM includes English (reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, and spelling), mathematics, cultural studies (history, geography, economics, etc.), science, computer literacy, art, music, and physical education as part of the regular program. Intensive English classes are provided for those with a limited knowledge of the English. Russian and French are offered as foreign languages. Students participate in activities and clubs as a part of their school day. Textbooks are loaned to students without charge.
Ashgabat International School has accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Pennsylvania, USA.
