Thailand - Bangkok (Minburi)
School:Ruamrudee International School (RIS)

Founded in 1957 by Catholic priests, Ruamrudee is a private college preparatory school with a unique community spirit and strong values. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the Association of Indian Universities, and the Thai Ministry of Education. RIS is also a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and Council of International Schools (CIS).

Ruamrudee International School is a non-profit organization owned and managed by the Redemptorists of Thailand. We are chartered under the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and licensed under the Office of the Private Education Commission of the Thai Ministry of Education. The school serves approximately 1,890 students, Kindergarten through Grade 12, with separate elementary, middle, and high school facilities on one campus.

Of the 43 student nationalities represented here, 40 percent are Thai, 15 percent Taiwanese, 9 percent Indian, 6 percent Korean, and 6 percent American. RIS is a college preparatory school following a modified U.S. curriculum. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), as well as the Education Ministry, which recognizes the RIS diploma as equivalent to the Thai Secondary School Certificate (Grade 12), allowing graduates the option of enrolling in Thai Universities.

RIS employs a professional staff of 179 men and women representing 20 nationalities. Of these, 38.5 percent hold an M.S. or M.A. degree, and 1 percent hold an Ed.D. degree. Another 163 staff members provide full-time assistance in the areas of clerical, custodial, maintenance, and food services. Of the 182 graduates in the Class of 1998, 181 are enrolled in colleges around the world, mostly in America. Results of standardized achievement tests (ITBS, ERB) indicate that our students tested relatively high in comparison with U.S. national norms.
